The 24th Street Wailers CD Launch "Dirty Little Young'uns"

WHO : The 24th Street Wailers
WHERE : The Gladstone Hotel Melody Bar
WHEN : 3rd February, 830PM

We were present for the recording of Dirty Little Young’uns at Apollo Studios, which took just over two days for this talented bunch. An ambitious sounding proposal at first, we were blown away by the musicality of the team. It is really sexy to watch, and no surprise that they are the winners of the 2010 Toronto Blues Society Talent Search.
The band, consisting of Linz Beaver on vocals AND drums, Emily Burgess on guitar, Mike Archer on bass, Jon Wong on sax and guest Lance Anderson on piano, took the “live off the floor” approach, meaning all performances were recorded in the moment to give it that good ol' raw sound.
Courtesy of our hyperactive photographer, there may be the sound of a shutter going off during one of Linz's solos if you listen closely.Their first release is a roaring, hilarious, power-packed, 13-track outing comprised of original material from each member — and one that begins with a raunchy shuffle in “Dirty Little Young’uns” and ends with an acoustic song, “Turn To You,” that provides an emotional ending to a special, house-wrecking record. Tough though the record is, the dirty little young ‘uns from 24th Street are fluid and funky. Don't miss them, and check out their website.
