With performances by She & Him, The Joel Plaskett Emergency, Arkells,Fitz & The Tantrums, Flogging Molly, The Hold Steady, and Neko Case, the weekend will surely live up to the hype.
This year, TURF marks the return of the multi-day urban roots festival that was last seen downtown Toronto in 1995 when the Mariposa Folk Festival was last held in Toronto. TURF's creative director and co-founder, Jeff Cohen, believes this could mark the beginning of something groundbreaking and dynamic for Toronto's summer festival scene.

"We felt someone had to step up and curate this kind of music event," Cohen explains. "I'm just tired of everyone talking about all those great music events in someone else's city, it's time for our city to leap forward musically speaking and we hope TURF will not only fill the void for this summer and next but it will become a Toronto summer tradition just like NxNE, the Indy, Summerlicious, and TIFF."
