Its a tough job, but someone's got to do it. Ahead of Victoria Day weekend, Mariposa Cruises invited TSR to come aboard for the launch of their 2011 season. Boasting a newly renovated cabin and additions to their menu, the Captain Matthew Flinders took a bunch of lucky people for a short harbor tour and made us feel very special.
Showing off some of their new ideas on board, we enjoyed pulled pork sliders and sushi, amongst piles of candy and an entire table display of cold, fresh cut fruit. Spouting chocolate fountains were enjoyed by people playing a round of blackjack and roulette. There was even a mobile camera booth and people in costume handing out free candy. It was almost too much. The spirit with which these people throw a party is fond to my heart.
Every Torontonian worth their salt should know the perks of actually living in Toronto. Just as the folk do at Monte Carlo, boating on Lake Ontario, on a hot summer's day with an endless supply of roast meat, libation and dessert is what we're worth.
No real money was on the table. Yet, we felt like winners. We think Mariposa is making a good move in introducing all these new services and menu items. It shows a step up to the times where people are looking for an experience, not just a ride around the harbor. For a good cruise while being well fed and entertained, Mariposa has our vote.
SWAG! A classy gift from their President. |
We only had an hour to savor the luxuries of the Captain, but we will come back soon. A handy tip! For a free ride down to the Harbourfront Center where Mariposa launches, there is a Waterfront Bus Shuttle from Union Station along Toronto’s waterfront. This runs all week from Victoria Day Weekend until Thanksgiving Day. For more info, go to www.mariposacruises.com.
