Another case in example? YLMC turned the El Mocambo into a really sweet venue on New Year's Eve. We did have reservations at first, since NYE is usually for champagne and caviar. There was a moment of doubt as we waited for doors to open and were stuck in line with, frankly, a crowd that had to be checked for guns. We nearly left due to the scary line, NYE crime statistics blazing through our heads, but all changed once we found out from other terrified indie kids that there were TWO different parties going up in that joint. We huddled together for warmth.
Along with Sheezer & Friends, an awesome all-female Weezer cover band, the Elmo changed into a hot party for the city's best indie scene. It goes to show, it is not where you go but who you're with. Creative 20-somethings are the mainstay of YLMC and they came out in force to dance and sing along with hits from Blue and Pinkerton. Occasional crowd surfing, free Steamwhistle and candy topped it off.
Take it from us, just go to the next YLMC thing, which happens to be Canadian Music Week 2012. Just suck it up, stop bothering google and go, it will be fun.
