UPDATE : We are sad to announce that Aaron Marx, owner and curator of Studio 561, has passed away. Although the meeting was short, he left an impression. We wish the best for his friends and family in this time of loss.

For all his Toronto friends, there is a get-together in memory of Aaron on WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 15, 2012 at Insomnia Restaurant and Lounge right next door from the Gallery (563 Bloor Street West) at 9:30PM-2:30AM.

His good friend Joel (Sweet Jelly Roller) will be spinning that night and all are welcome to come by and remember Aaron. ~ Mari Minasyan

It was a diverse bunch of people who showed up for Studio 561's Artist Networking Party. Part speed networking, part free gallery space, guests were invited to show up with their own works to display throughout the night. There were a tonne of photographers there who for once were on the other side of the camera, awkwardly posing [or perhaps that was the look everyone was going for].

The thing about artists is that we're ok with awkward. The theme for the night was burlesque jazz cabaret and for most of it, people thrived on being silly and irreverent. Having the rest of the room experience the same sensations of staring mutely at half a dozen lenses brings about camaraderie that lasted till the late hours of the night.

Quoting Aaron, "The people that close an art show are always good peoples."
