Put some passion in your stride. Portales, a new show by Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company, premieres this week, in the middle of Hispanic Heritage Month and National Dance Week.

Running from April 25-28, Portales sees a first for the company when two bailaores (male flamenco dancers) share the stage with the dynamic ensemble for an evening of truly fabulous flamenco!

The award-winning Esmeralda Enrique is one of the most celebrated flamenco dance artists in Canada. Lauded internationally as a performer, choreographer and teacher, Enrique's vision and passionate commitment to flamenco have earned the company a total of 12 Dora Award nominations since.

Her talented musicians, singers and commanding dancers perform finely wrought pieces that hold tradition and a modern, contemporary aesthetic in perfect balance. She founded Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company in 1982.
