ArtScienceCamp2 Unconference

It was a good day to have an ArtScience Unconference (#artscicamp). Organised by brilliant peeps at Subtle Technologies, divergent viewpoints towards Singularity, Assistive Technology, How To Make Toronto Suck Less and The DIY Project were some of the sessions that caught our attention. Held simultaneously with 4 other interesting modules at each time slot, the Unconvention was a serious exercise in wanting the ability to bend time.

Take a look at a schedule and you'll see what we mean. People flitted from room to room, speeding through topics concerning industries, applications, theory and practicalities. It was great. Super-smart conversations and spotting the occasional Sheldon-lookalike is nothing but fun. Stereotypes beware. There were sword fights in the hall, fisticuffs in the tuck shop and building towers of Babel in marshmallows and Jenga.

The organizers promised and delivered an intense but informal gathering of artists, scientists, designers and geniuses.  From their Friday-night party where all attendees were invited to propose their own sessions, to round tables in the afternoon debating a new transit system, the Unconference was a creative enclave that we'd be happy to return to.

Check out their Photo Booth gallery for a look at some of the attendees.
