artsScene Toronto, boardLink 2012 was an epic opportunity to connect with Canadian arts organizations. Some of the participants at this years' event were the
Tarragon Theatre, the
Toronto International Fringe Festival,
Pleiades Theatre,
Dance Collection Danse,
Espirit Orchestra,
Praxis Theatre,
Textile Museum of Canada and
Opera Canada Magazine. A chance to give back to the art community, a diverse group attended to hear about volunteer board positions.
Guests enjoyed a gorgeous view from the 46th floor of KPMG’s boardrooms downtown, while roles in tax advisory, accounting, legal advice and project management were on the table. A rallying speech given by Beth Wilson set the tone for a speed networking session where talented individuals mingled with arts professionals.
With cards running low and hands shaken, it was a promising show of support for Toronto and Canada's artist community. Initiatives such as artsScene's boardLink is a perfect example of how to really, truly contribute to the arts.
