How can the Toronto region’s city-builders work effectively with local
and provincial governments? We sat down with members of the Emerging
Leaders Network for an insider’s perspective on the state of our
city-region. A discussion moderated by David Simmonds, the panel consisted of Erika Mozes, Coca Cola Canada, Will Stewart, Managing Principal, Navigator Ltd and Piragal Thiru, Planner - Transportation, Regional Municipality of York.
Discussing how non-partisan, city-building initiatives can effectively engage the public sector, Piragal spoke about collaboration and a grassroots approach
to solving issues through public dialogue. Both Erika and David focused
on the need to understand legislation, it's process and being flexible
to meet in the middle when it came to dealing with government bodies.
Lastly, the highlight was a simple rule for success; Come with a
solution, not just a problem.
