Nightwood Theatre presents three new works by current female playwrights across Canada in The New Groundswell Festival, a ten-day theatre festival at the Berkeley Street Theatre Upstairs. This year's festival includes the latest play from iconic dramatist Judith Thompson, Who Killed Snow White?, as well as works by Arianna Bardesono, Christine Khalifah and Berni Stapleton.
Who Killed Snow White? is about three generations of women dealing with gender issues and notions of good and evil. Body Memory, by Montreal playwrights Bardesono and Khalifah, is a multimedia work focusing on the female body, and Stapleton's The Oracle at Gros Morne is the story of a defunct Newfoundland fishery.
