ALL CAPS ISLAND FESTIVAL

 Jennifer Castle and Yuula Benivolsky
The ALL CAPS ISLAND FESTIVAL is a special event. Hosted on Toronto Island by Artscape Gibraltar Point, it was a gathering of art, music and the surprising wilderness. For a place within view of Toronto's downtown quarter, the only indicator of how close, is the tip of the CN Tower poking over trees.

We had a really magical time and regressed to standing in the sand, staring at the lake. Also the first weekend that people got to camp over at Toronto Island, tickets sold out on the first day. We quote Lisa, media contact at Artscape GP, "We never expected such numbers."  Thanks to the open concept of the festival, we also got to view a performance by Jennifer Castle and Yuula Benivolsky. We met Alistair Dickson, resident artist at Artscape, in his studio where he makes many special, small found things.

The sizable crowd was occasionally bitten by fire ants, but blame the pop! It was worth it to get serenaded by live music. People stayed till the wee hours of the night, watching a full moon. Notable of notables Evening Hymns and Monogrenade are already in our playlists.
