1st Thursdays at the AGO Kick-Off Party

The kick-off celebration of the new Art Gallery of Ontario's monthly late-night art event happens this week! Simply called 1st Thursdays, it is a glittering jewel of an event. With intimate showcasing of artists and their work, free art making, live music and DJs, great food and drink, we expect this very first 1st Thursday to be epic.

On Oct. 4, they will feature Evan Penny: "Re Figured" with special musical guest Bahamas, and free live nude drawing sessions scattered throughout the AGO.

Internationally renowned, Evan will speak about his larger-than-life sculptures, which straddle the line between object and image, presenting the human form both as we see it and as it can be imagined through the distorting lens of photography and digital media.

Bahamas (Afie Jurvanen) will play an intimate solo set in Walker Court, and the party continues with DJs spinning as visitors explore and wander the AGO throughout the night.

If you get in early [we expect a line-up], at 6.30pm, Trevor Kruse, an award-winning designer and principal of Hudson Kruse Design will launch DesignTALKS, a new series of lectures by leading local designers focused on small space design. 

Online tickets are sold out, but we expect there will be some rush tickets available at the door.
